Hi Reader, BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT (BLUF): Successful days aren’t born from “being busy”—they are manufactured through a disciplined Plan of the Day. By giving just 15 minutes (1% of every hour) to a specific priority, you create the Clarity and Momentum to dominate your goals before the afternoon lag hits. Team, In my early days on submarines in the 1980s, I was a kick-butt action taker but a lousy planner. I tried to do ten things at once and nearly sank myself. The Navy taught me the hard way: without a Plan of the Day (POD), even the best intentions go off the rails. I later served under leaders like Admiral “Rat” Willard and General David Petraeus. They didn’t hope for productive days—they scheduled them with ruthless intentionality. That lesson stuck with me. Today I call my evolved system the Sweet 16—a tactical upgrade of the Naval watchbill designed for high-performers who refuse to drift through the 16 waking hours left after 8 hours of sleep (your 64% of life). The Sweet 16 Rules of Engagement
Here’s the powerful part most people never realize: If you consistently execute your Sweet 16 and capture just 16% of your day with intentional 15-minute wins, you’ll join the less than 5% of people in the world who actually operate at this level of disciplined focus. Imagine the confidence, success, momentum, and wealth that compounds from that kind of edge. Example: A High-Performance Sweet 16 POD The Whitt Step Synergy: Clarity + Momentum (My 3-Part Framework)
Pro Tip: If you can’t find 15 minutes for your future, you don’t have a time management problem—you have a priority problem. Even starting with the “Ease-In 8” puts you way ahead of the pack. Smooth Sailing, Captain Michael Whitt, USN, Ret. To Getting It Done!

Hi Reader, Bottom Line Up Front: Having trouble accomplishing your tasks and goals? Stop staring at calendar dates and start a “Days Left” countdown. You need healthy pressure to get things done, and tracking by the number of days left forces that awareness on you. It gives you a clear operational picture so you can take action before your butt is in a sling (Navy jargon). Getting things done leads to successful results. How do you accomplish goals? Is your current process working? This way...
Team, In my last newsletter, I challenged you with a simple question: Are you giving up already? When operations get tough, average leaders start shuffling tasks back and forth. Elite leaders change their strategy. Right now, I am practicing what I preach. I am currently 8 days out from a right hip replacement. The "dry dock" recovery is going exactly according to plan, but sitting around watching TV isn't in my DNA. I am already mapping out the next mission. Over 38 years in the Navy, rising...
Hi Reader, Bottom Line Up Front: Take action now. The "gurus" will tell you that Decision is king. Others say Momentum is everything. I say no. You can’t have momentum without movement, and a decision without a deed is just a daydream. In my 38 years of Naval leadership, I learned one truth: Action is the engine that drives everything else.Do you stall because you don’t "feel" like it? Are you waiting for a perfect plan? I’ve been there. I’ve drifted while waiting for the "right mood"—until I...
